Willie Belle Merritt Chatmon, passed away peacefully at her home on October 24, 2017 at the age of 94. Willie Belle was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and dedicated servant of Jehovah born on April 4, 1923 in Sahdy Grove, AL/ She was the oldest daughter of the late Ashberry (Pink) and Annie Ruth Merritt. Willie Belle was raised with two siblings, Jesse Mae and Moses.
Willie Belle will be deeply missed. She served Jehovah faithfully for over 50 years and had the opportunity to pioneer occasionally. She loved er dear spiritual sisters and brothers and they loved her. Sister Chatmon's hope is that she will see everyone in the new system.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jessie Mae and Moses and her late husband. Willie Belle married twice, first to Mr. Andrew Jack Brown. After his unexpected passing, she married Brother John Chatmon. Sister Chatmon did not give birth orraise any children of her own. But, she deeply loved and cared for her three nephews (the sons of her younger sister, Jessie Mae) as her own.
She is survived by her three nephews: Samuel Hairston, Jr., John L. Hairston, and Jerry W. Hairston and their respective wives; AnnieBell and Esperanza; Grand nieces and Grand nephews; Kimberly, John (Paige) Jr., Victoria (William Henley), Jeffrey (Marisol), Jason, Jerry, Jr., Justin, Scott (Jill), Stacey (Geary Epperson), Anna Maria (Nathan Seiple); and large number of Great-Grand nieces and Great-Grand nephews.
